Today, my freebie for you is the cutest little song that I teach my kiddos! When I introduce their songbooks at the beginning of the year, this is always the first song I teach them. And for those of you who are moving into the Daily 5, songbooks were a big hit during Read to Self and Read to Someone!

The song is called The Penguin Song! My version is a little different than these ladies, but this is the best video I could come up with for the tempo and the tune of the song. My movements are a little more subdued and obviously my lyrics work it out a little differently, but you get the gist! So, I am sharing with you the little lyric sheet that I made to go with it! Let me tell you...this is an absolutely wonderful and EASY way to teach kids right and left. By the end of the first month of school, my kids knew left and right better than the third graders!

Be sure to continue to check back each day this week for more freebies!! And remember to comment on Day 1 to be entered to win everything in my store!

Happy Friday!

Today, I have freebie #5! Now I need to come out and say that this is NOT my original idea. I wish I could say I was this creative! I got the idea from the Teacher Tipster, and if you have never checked out his site before, you are missing out! His original file is here!

I just realized that my kiddos were a little more ahead of the game in the sight word arena, and I wanted it to truly be a challenge for them to practice and learn them. So, I created this version that is a little more advanced.

It's called We Are Sweet Readers, and for every group of 10-20 sight words the kiddos memorize, they earn the candy in that box! It is a PHENOMENAL motivator. You have no idea how hard my kiddos worked to earn a fruit roll up. I made it in microsoft word before I knew the wonders of PPT, so I cannot figure out how to attach a picture, so just download it to get it!

Be sure to continue to check back each day this week for more freebies!! And remember to comment on Day 1 to be entered to win everything in my store!

Happy Thursday!

Today, I have freebie #4 for you! It's the Busy Bee Place Value game! This is definitely something that I found this year that I did not teach enough of. Place value is such an important building block for higher thinking math skills and I realized later in the year that I really needed to introduce this sooner in the year and work on it for longer. Showing students all the different ways a number can be presented is the best way to reach all types of learners. This game could be played independently as a math tub/math station, or could be a "Go Fish" type of game.

Today, I have yet another freebie for you! It's Fun on the Farm Parts of Speech. This is a concept that I introduced to my first graders at the beginning of the year and practiced ALL YEAR LONG. And my kiddos left as AMAZING writers if I do say so myself :) We practiced not only identifying nouns, verbs, and adjectives, but practiced using them in sentences, both orally and written constantly.

Day 2 of Freebies and Giveaway!

Hello everyone!

Today is Day 2 of my week of freebies and giveaways!! If you missed yesterday's freebie, please click here to get my behavior chart stuff!

Remember, you have a chance to win everything and anything from my store! Just follow my blog, follow my TPT store, and blog about my giveawy/freebie week on your blog and get three entries to win! Please comment on the Day 1 post as this is where I will be choosing the winner from! That post is here!

Today, I have another freebie for you! I have created a Back to School Antonyms game! I find that my students grasp the concept of synonyms and antonyms better if I introduce antonyms first. Kids are very familiar with what opposites are, and antonyms play wonderfully into that skill! This one is a game that students can play independently as a word work station, or can be played as a matching game with partners. It comes with a response sheet that students can fill you!

Just for your information, I am going to link a bunch of resources I found to help teach the concept of antonyms :) Hope they help!

-A game and worksheet from the Teeny Tiny Teacher!
-Cute crafty idea and a antonym book from The First Grade Parade!
-An antonym writing activity from Oceans of First Grade Fun!
-A word work game from First Grade Fanatics!
-A matching game from Buggy for Second Grade!
-A word work game and craftivity from First Grade Fever!
-A craftivity from All That Glitters in First Grade!
-An antonym worksheet from The First Grade Jungle!

Enjoy mine and all these other freebies! And be sure to continue to check back each day this week for more freebies!!

Happy Monday!
